Dolby Digital is the most common means of encoding audio for DVD-Video. It is the width of the picture relative to the height. Save all packing materials, which provide the safest way to transport your system. Check to be sure your system includes the parts shown in Figure 1. If any part of the system appears damaged, do not attempt to use it. Notify Bose or your authorized Bose sheet included in the carton. The Acoustimass will connect to a power outlet. Control panel and buttons The media center has eight buttons located on the top control panel. Insert o ne end of the supplied video cable (yel low) to the V ideo OUT C (c ompos ite) jack on the bac k of the media cen ter (Figur e 11). 2. Insert the other end of the vi deo cable into o ne of the v ideo inpu t jacks on you r TV. Advanced setup option s Making S-video connections (higher quality video) An S-vid eo input j ack, prov ided on ma ny TVs, de livers a higher qu ality TV pictur e than the composit e video o utput connec t ion shown in Figur e 11. T o turn on th e progressi ve scan f ea- ture, see “Video o ptions” on page 47. For the h ighest quality vi deo fr om DVDs, you may want to u se a compone n t vide o connectio n between the media ce nter and the TV. T o do so, your TV mus t provi de component vid eo jacks (typical ly labelled Y, Pb, and Pr). Refer to y our TV owner’ s guide for mor e information. T o make component vid eo connecti ons you will n eed thr ee video grade cable s that are lon g enough t o reac h fr om the rear of the media center to your TV (Figure 15). If the cab les ar e not suppl ied wi th your TV, you ca n purch ase the m separat ely. 1. On the med ia cent er re ar pane l, plug one vid eo cable in to the Component Y, Pb, and Pr video outp ut jack s (F igure 15). 2. Plug the ot her end of eac h video ca ble into t he corr espondin g (color o r letter cod e) com- ponent v ideo jack on th e back of your TV. Y ou can pu rchase t he re quired cab les at a l ocal ele ctr onics store. On the media center r ear panel, an opt ical digit al cable co n nects to t he OPTI CAL jack. On ly a DTS bitstream from th e intern al DVD playe r can be decoded. Note: Before y ou can benefi t from the optical con nectio n, you will ne ed to assi gn the op tical connector to the audi o source in the system se ttings menu. Se e “Media cente r options” o n page 48. As an option, y ou may use an o p tical digital connecti on.
