I have been asked by a local production company to look at their recently purchased Bose Panaray system which comprises 4x LT4402, 2x LT3202 and 2x LT1802. They have also got 5x Bose 1800 series v amps and a panaray DSP.http://arredomilano.com/images/bose-191-manual.pdf They intend on using this system as a (ahem) portable system for some of their larger events. I went to see the system this afternoon as I have been tasked with getting the amp racks sorted out and getting it all usable ready for work over the summer season. Some of the amps are in need of repair due to failed fans and other minor faults so I will be advising that they be sent away for service. The speakers all seem to be in working order but I am a little confused about the set up. Does anyone know if proper presets can be obtained and loaded into the controller. Also I presume that as the panaray controller is only 2 in 4 out I will need a second controller for the subs which again I can't find a preset for. Should I ditch the Bose controllers and use another 2 in 6 out processor. I'm at a loss as to what to do as it needs to be done on a tight (read non existent) budget. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated! Ian. I have had a look but I can't find the specific items that I am working with. I have decided that a 3rd party processor is the way to go as having spoken with the owner of the system he wants to use the amps etc with other boxes. Does anyone have any suggestions for a starting point regarding processor settings. I have found the nice wavy line graphs in the manuals but I'm not sure how these would translate to a parametric eq setting. Many thanks, Ian I have had a look but I can't find the specific items that I am working with. In addition, the correct processor settings depend on the array configuration, the inter cabinet angles and distances. That's where my experience ends with Bose, I'm afraid. I've worked on 802 and 302 kit, but I'm not a big fan using it for anything anymore, seems to be something missing to me around the low mid and VHF areas. Bose then redesigned the system which is what they currently produce. That said, if your cabinets are similar to what Bose later built, it does not appear the cabinets require very much corrective EQ. I will definately look to get the boxes dialed in with regards to room independant response as a start as I like easy days I guess that they were designed as install boxes and they kind of look a bit prototype-ish so they were dialled in.Cliff has a long history of loudspeaker design having worked for EV, JBL, Altec, Community, etc. This design exhibited the required chamber and flare rigidty but weighed VERY little. I heard them up at Bose in 1996 and they sounded very good. But in my world (installed systems) the low-weight factor was of no interest to me as I can always get structural rigging points on projects where such speakers are used. Another minus was that they cost more due to the complexity and materials expense in building them. Some time ago (8-10 years) they redesigned these with standard hardwood plywood construction. I know of a few installations where these were used and (so I have heard) with good results. Cliff has also written scholarly articles on the Hammond organ and Leslie speaker system. He actively plays and I suspect is very good. Cliff retired from Bose about 1 year ago. (yes, I'm an amateur historian of live sound speakers) I'm looking forward to getting these up and running and seeing how they perform. I will try and post some pictures at some point as there are some interesting construction elements to this system. Tojo This work is devoted to the mathematical analysis of Stieltjes Bochner spaces and their applications to the resolution of a parabolic equation with Stieltjes time derivative. This novel formulation allows us to study parabolic equations that present impulses at certain times or lapses where the system does not evolve at all and presents an elliptic behavior. We prove several theoretical results related to existence of solution, and propose a full algorithm for its computation, illustrated with some realistic numerical examples related to population dynamics. Though linear stability analysis is sufficient to predict the variation of the capillary ridge, the finally observed fingering pattern is also very interesting, nonlinear simulations of the thin film flow are displayed in this section. In this paper, we aim to give a comprehensive study on contact line instability of thin film flows on a slippery substrate, which has different slippery lengths in the streamwise direction and the spanwise direction. Linear stability analysis (LSA) and energy analysis are carried out to elucidate the mechanism of the flow instability. Results indicate that for thin film flows with dynamic contact lines, the slippery effect in the streamwise and spanwise direction plays different roles in the flow instability. The wall slippage in the streamwise direction suppresses the wave height of traveling waves and impedes the instability of the flow, while the wall slippage in the spanwise direction promotes the instability with a smaller cut off wavenumber. Besides, numerical simulations for thin film flows are performed, and the flow phenomenon agrees well with the prediction by the LSA. Our findings offer insight into the influence of the wall slippage on the dynamics of thin films coating on biomaterials and compliant substrates. The models were developed using a linear triangular element (three nodes with 2 degrees of freedom per node), because these elements are more adaptable for meshing plates with circular notches.. Spatiotemporal dynamics of frictional systems: The interplay of interfacial friction and bulk elasticity Preprint Aug 2019 Yohai Bar-Sinai Michael Aldam Robert Spatschek Eran Bouchbinder Frictional interfaces are abundant in natural and engineering systems, and predicting their behavior still poses challenges of prime scientific and technological importance. At the heart of these challenges lies the inherent coupling between the interfacial constitutive relation -- the macroscopic friction law -- and the bulk elasticity of the bodies that form the frictional interface. In this feature paper, we discuss the generic properties of the macroscopic friction law and the many ways in which its coupling to bulk elasticity gives rise to rich spatiotemporal frictional dynamics. We first present the widely used rate-and-state friction constitutive framework, discuss its power and limitations, and propose extensions that are supported by experimental data. We then discuss how bulk elasticity couples different parts of the interface, and how the range and nature of this interaction are affected by the system's geometry. Finally, in light of the coupling between interfacial and bulk physics, we discuss basic phenomena in spatially-extended frictional systems, including the stability of homogeneous sliding, the onset of sliding motion and a wide variety of propagating frictional modes (e.g. rupture fronts, healing fronts and slip pulses). Overall, the results presented and discussed in this feature paper highlight the inseparable roles played by interfacial and bulk physics in spatially-extended frictional systems. View Show abstract. Complex-Eigenfrequency Band Structure of Viscoelastic Phononic Crystals Article Full-text available Jul 2019 Tingting Wang Laude Kadic Muamer The consideration of material losses in phononic crystals leads naturally to the introductionof complex valued eigenwavevectors or eigenfrequencies representing the attenuation of elastic wavesin space or in time, respectively. Here, we propose a new technique to obtain phononic band structureswith complex eigenfrequencies but real wavevectors, in the case of viscoelastic materials, wheneverelastic losses are proportional to frequency. It is further found that the imaginary part of eigenfrequencies are wellpredicted by perturbation theory and are mostly independent of periodicity, i.e., they do not accountfor propagation losses but for temporal damping of Bloch waves. All computations are carried out by using Intel (R) Core (TM) i7-7700 CPU with 3.60GHz and 8 GB RAM.. Numerical Solutions for Time-Fractional Cancer Invasion System With Nonlocal Diffusion Article Full-text available Jun 2019 J. Manimaran Shangerganesh Lingeshwaran Amar Debbouche Valery Antonov This article studies the existence and uniqueness of a weak solution of the time-fractional cancer invasion system with nonlocal diffusion operator. Existence and uniqueness results are ensured by adapting the Faedo-Galerkin method and some a priori estimates. Further, finite element numerical scheme is implemented for the considered system. Finally, various numerical computations are performed along with the convergence analysis of the scheme. In the following, comparisons are made with reference SA.. Self-consistent triple decomposition of the turbulent flow over a backward-facing step under finite amplitude harmonic forcing Article May 2019 Proc Math Phys Eng Sci Eunok Yim P. Meliga Francois Gallaire We investigate the saturation of harmonically forced disturbances in the turbulent flow over a backward-facing step subjected to a finite amplitude forcing. The analysis relies on a triple decomposition of the unsteady flow into mean, coherent and incoherent components. The model does not require any input from numerical or experimental data, and accurately predicts the saturation of the forced coherent disturbances, as established from comparison to time-averages of unsteady RANS simulation data. Murman We assess the performance of two iterative mesh optimization algorithms for generating high-order, metric-conforming meshes appropriate for use with high-order, finite-element methods. The three key steps in these metric-based approaches are: 1) obtain the desired high-order, Riemannian metric field, 2) generate a linear, metric-conforming mesh, and 3) place the high-order geometry nodes such that the mesh-implied metric conforms to the desired metric field. The procedure to obtain the desired high-order metric field is similar to the Mesh Optimization via Error Sampling and Synthesis (MOESS) developed by Yano1 for linear meshes. In this work, we consider two approaches to obtain the desired, higher-order metric field: 1) performing MOESS on a refined mesh, and 2) extending native MOESS to high-order MOESS (HOMES). The mesh regeneration procedures used to obtain the metric-conforming property are also described in detail. The accuracy benefits offered by these two proposed algorithms are presented for a series of one-dimensional problems. A two-dimensional proof of concept is also provided to establish the value of extending the proposed metric-based optimization algorithm to higher dimensions and to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed mesh regeneration procedure in higher dimensions.
