This Boss guitar pedal also has a powerful Wah wherein the picking and modulation Wah can be combined simultaneously. When in the low frequency range, the manual control knob of this Boss Auto-Wah pedal can be used to add a funky touch to the modulation Wah. The modulation Wah occurs during the decay of the sound by adjusting the Sens control knob of the Boss AW-2 pedal. The Sens control knob of this Boss guitar pedal can also be adjusted to match your guitar gain levels. This pedal is the second generation of the original Boss T Wah and is far better then the newer AW-3 Dynamic wah. Most people say this pedal is great for funk which it does very well. On the other hand, coming from a blues and classic rock player, this pedal is very simple to use and has a older analog sound that I much prefer as opposed to the AW-3's digital sound. No noise or interference problems for me. I do notice a very slight volume drop when engaged but not enough to bother me. This isn't a wah wah pedal replacement as it doesn't quite have that full lush crybaby or clyde wah tone. It does however make a great ambient wah when holding chords for soft playing and makes a killer fixed wah tone kinda like how Robin Trower uses the Fulltone WahFull as a wah on a preset sweep. It is more lively. But the Taiwan version is not that bad. Better then Behringer versions. Will do a good job at intimating the wah sound.if you set things just right it almost sounds like your still using a foot to work it. Another nice thing about it is you can set it to stay in one range and just work the tone and get it to sound very close like Hendrix or Robin Trower's lead work. Hendrix would just leave it in the middle or lower or even turn the pot inside his wah's but Trower was using a special custom piece that Fultone made just for him.but this Boss will get you in those ball fields. UTILIZATION Boss pedals are notoriously famous for being able to stand pretty much any kind of abuse you can throw at them. The housings are built like tanks, and they can be thrown off of buildings without any issues. They're truly some of the most reliable pedals out there, and I continue to have pedals older than I am in my rig without any issues at all. The pedal itself is fairly easy to setup, although some of the names are a bit ambiguous. Once you start turning the knobs, you can tell what each one does, but if you open up the manual, Boss describes what every knob does in detail, along with giving you some example settings to help get you started real quick. SOUND QUALITY The sound is pretty good, but it's your basic auto wah. I never really found a big use for a simple auto wah by itself except for a few funk lines or something. If I wanted that kind of surging sound to constantly occur, I'd rather break out a flanger and make it a bit more apparent than break out the auto wah. I can also do a lot of this with my normal wah, so it's not exactly something that needed to be on my board. You can use this with any guitar or amp. The use of other gear isn't important but rather the inconsistency of how the pedal sounded when engaged. When you engaged the pedal it has a wah variation but there was a trick to getting it to smooth out in the rhythm that that you are playing.
