Using a Strat with the pickup selector in the fourth position and the pedal set to peizo, running straight into the PA I had a convincing acoustic sound. I wouldn't recommend this for recording, but for a live performance it fills a niche and has become a permanent part of my pedal board. As an aside, I didn't have any problem with the hum that other people mention. It seemed to me that the hum only became apparent with the level knob cranked all the way up, which, honestly, should come as no surprise.Works better woth single coil guitars and sounds pretty nice using a piezo pickup. It is a bit temperamental to find a nice tone and although it simulates different types of acoustic guitars for the most part it doesn't sound too great unless you dial it into a sweet spot. The reverb feature was slightly diminished due to the fact this pedal creates a very little buzz which cuts into the mix when ringing out a sustained note and the only way for me to stop it was by using a noise gate which dampens the reverb setting a little (it's not that bad in all fairness). This pedal also has a line out (to PA) aswell as a guitar out (to amp) output which is handy to match impedence and to also hook up to an amp and a mixer to record. I use this pedal with a spliter to blend two tones together so having the ability to plug it into my mixer and a 2nd amp gives you the use of a stereo sound if you chuck a few other effects in front. Please try again It has to be said that what you're going to get is the sound of an 'amplified' acoustic guitar - but that would be about the best you could expect since you will obviously be going through an amplifier. You won't sound like an un-amplified Martin, Gibson, Taylor, whatever but then they all sound different amplified too. I have not encountered any extraneous noises; it's very clean. This pedal allows you to get an an acoustic sound while still playing an electric guitar. For most 'purity', it has two outputs - one for the normal guitar amp and a second which can route straight to the PA or to an acoustic amplifier, for the acoustic setting. If only the guitar amp output is connected, the pedal will change the tone but you would still be going through an 'electric' amp - the second output allows a completely separate amplifier chain to be switched in. Pedal has 4 settings for different acoustic types of guitar as well as reverb, pre-amp level (so you can balance the volume) and 'body' and 'top' controls for tone. Please try again By chance I tried a similar product from Beringer (AC400) - and bingo. That's almost perfectly the sound I was looking for. Once found the type of product, I tried all the similar ones I could find, i.e. the Mooer Akoustikar (which I found very unsatisfactory for my purpose) and this, the Boss AC-3, which was by far my favorite. Some more details about my setup. I tried both using headphones and using an electric bass amplifier. The AC-3 gives good results with both, and by tweaking a bit it's possible to fine a setup that sounds good either way. This gives a warm, resonant sound, which goes near the sound of a real acoustic cello. Please keep in mind, it will NOT sound exactly like an acoustic; anyway, the sound is pleasant. Send the electric signal to your amp, and the line out (acoustic sound) to the PA (or console, acoustic amp, etc.). It is quite convincing when setup as such. As for the sounds. I like to use the middle position on my tele, strat or les paul. Price is fair and durablity seems to be the same as all boss pedals. I will be ordering one from my local Long and Mcquade and recommend this to any player who normally plays their electric but would like an acoustic sound without switching guitars. Posted by Rick on Dec 22, 2015 Was this review helpful.This can definitely get the tone you may desire when you don't have a acoustic guitar on hand.Once you find that you don't actually have any introduced fuzz you notice that your tone is killed off and you aren't getting any sounds you want. Literally the pedal is silent until you play a note, you will hear that underlying fuzz that just ruins any attempt of playing an acoustic piece. Maybe it's my rig, my specific pedal or where I'm located but not even my ISP Decimator II G string could get rid of the added distortion in this pedal, while making all my other pedals added noise disappear. So either get an acoustic guitar or look for a different pedal seriously.
