When choosing the right size, and especially when creating a custom shape, pay attention to the following instructions. Guide to choose the right size: Measure the foot (heel - longest toe) or print the appropriate template according to your usual size. IMPORTANT! Be sure to print out in actual size (do not adjust to the format and do not click shrink to the page). Place the foot on the sheet with template, center your foot as you would imagine that it is already your Bosky sandal. If the template is too small or too big, print another size-template and try again. The intended purpose of use can also play the role in choosing the right size. If the template fits and you are comfortable with the shape, make sure that the point indicating the toe-strap is really between your thumb toe and pointer toe. If the dot you've made is further than 2 mm from the printed point, and after adjusting the foot, the template does no more fit the feet, don't worry. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the overall, clinical, and radiographical success rates of alternative pulpotomy medicaments in primary teeth. Methods. A systematic search of five databases was conducted following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines. Prospective clinical trials using alternative pulpotomy medicaments in children were included. The outcome measures were overall, clinical, and radiographic success, expressed in percentages and converted to odds ratios. Fifteen articles were included in the meta-analysis. Results. The results suggest an inconclusive outcome in the success rate of alternative medicaments. Conclusions. There is insufficient evidence to support the efficacy of alternative pulpotomy medicaments for use in primary teeth. Further robust studies are required before such alternative medicaments should be used in clinical practice. Do you want to read the rest of this article. The aim of this study was to investigate the impact of untreated dental caries on children aged 4-9 years and whether its treatment with either a conventional or a biological approach influenced the oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) of the children and their carers. Dental treatment was provided using either a conventional or a biological approach. Parents perceived difficulty eating (40.9), being irritable (38.2), and difficulty drinking (30.9) as being impacts of caries on their child's OHRQoL. In addition, approximately half the parents reported feeling a sense of guilt because of their child's dental disease. View Show abstract Clinical Pulpotomy Trial of Copaifera Langsdorffii Oil Resin Versus Formocresol and White Mineral Trioxide Aggregate in Primary Teeth Article Full-text available Mar 2016 Prasad Musale Abhishek Soni Purpose. This study's purpose was to assess clinical and radiographic outcomes of Copaifera langsdorffii oil resin (CLOR) as a pulpotomy medicament compared with one-minute full-strength formocresol (FC) and white mineral trioxide aggregate (WMTA). Determined by a power analysis, 152 primary molars of 64 four- to eight-year-olds with at least two asymptomatic molars requiring vital pulpotomies were recruited, randomly assigned to receive CLOR, WMTA, or FC, and restored with prefabricated metal crowns. At the 12-month follow-up, recordings of 59 children with 142 treated teeth were taken for clinical and radiographic symptoms. Clinical evaluation was performed by a blinded calibrated evaluator, whereas four evaluators scored each radiograph for pathologies based upon a modified scale previously proposed. The data were statistically analyzed. At 12 months, 100 percent clinical success was observed with all groups. CLOR had the highest frequency of pathologic radiolucencies at 12 months. Conclusion. Copaifera langsdorffii oil resin can be suggested as a pulpotomy agent for primary teeth up to one year.AYHANCEVIK.COM/images_upload/files/conia-cdw0305s-manual.pdf However, further clinical studies with long-term follow-ups are needed to test its efficacy as a pulpotomy medicament. View Show abstract Clinical and Radiographic Outcome of Herbal Medicine Versus Standard Pulpotomy Medicaments in Primary Molars: A Systematic Review Article Full-text available Oct 2017 Divya Subramanyam Sujatha Somasundaram Introduction: Various medicaments has been used for many years as a pulpotomy medicament that has its own advantages and disadvantages. Recently, there has been the use of herbal medicine as a pulpotomy medicament due to its good antibacterial effect and least complications compared to standard chemically synthesized pulpotomy medicaments. Aim: The aim of this systematic review was to analyse the existing literature on the effectiveness of herbal medicine compared to standard pulpotomy medicaments in primary molars. Only those articles which met the inclusion criteria were selected. Literature abstracts and full text articles were analysed in this review. Results: A total of six articles were included in this systematic review. All were randomized clinical trials which evaluated the clinical and radiographic success or outcomes of herbal medicine such as allium sativum, ankaferd blood stopper, elaegnus angustifolia, propolis compared with standard pulpotomy medicaments in primary teeth. The overall clinical and radiographic outcomes were not significantly different in all the studies. All the included studies recorded high risk of bias. There is lack of strong evidence to support the use of herbal medicine to replace standard pulpotomy medicaments. Conclusion: There seems to be a lacunae of strong and long term evidence to support the use of herbal medicines. Therefore, more quality randomized controlled trials with long term follow up, to evaluate the clinical success of herbal medicine to replace the gold standard agents of conventional pulpotomy is required.http://lalitas-thaimassage-spa.de/wp-content/plugins/formcraft/file-upload/server/content/files/1626c726939821---carrier-furnace-58mvp-manual.pdf View Show abstract A comparative evaluation of clinical and radiographic success rate of pulpotomy in primary molars using antioxidant mix and mineral trioxide aggregate: An in vivo 1-year follow-up study Article Oct 2017 Sommyta Kathal Shilpi Gupta Deepak P Bhayya Anubhuti Sabhlok Introduction. Pulpotomy technique is most widely accepted clinical procedure for treating primary teeth with coronal pulp inflammation caused by caries with no involvement of the radicular pulp. Aim and objective. The aim of the study was to evaluate the success and efficacy of mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) and antioxidant mix as pulpotomy agents both clinically and radiographically. Materials and methods. A total of forty primary molars in children aged between 6 and 9 years, requiring for pulpotomy procedures, were selected. Under rubber dam isolation, pulpotomy procedure was performed in all samples followed by restoration with stainless steel crowns. Later, the patients were recalled after 6 and 12 months for clinical and radiographic evaluation. The data were evaluated using Fisher's exact test. Antioxidant mix pulpotomy is more biocompatible and cost effective than any other commercially available medicament. This study aimed to evaluate and compare the Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) and Mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) as a pulpotomy agent in primary molars. Material and methods. In this study, 50 primary molars from 50 healthy children aged 5-9 years requiring pulpotomy were randomly allocated into two groups. In PRF group, after coronal pulp removal and hemostasis, remaining pulp tissue was covered with PRF preparation.http://eduomania.com/wp-content/plugins/formcraft/file-upload/server/content/files/1626c72707135c---carrier-furnace-58pav-manual.pdf In the MTA group, the pulp stumps were covered with MTA (Pro Root MTA-Root Canal Repair Material, Dentsply International Inc.) paste obtained by mixing MTA powder with sterile water at a 3:1 powder to water ratio. All teeth were restored with reinforced zinc oxide eugenol base and glass - ionomer cement. Stainless steel crowns were given in both groups 24 h after treatment. Clinical evaluation was undertaken at 1, 3, and 6 months intervals whereas radiographic evaluation of the treated teeth was carried out at the interval of 6 months. By the end of 6 months, the overall success rate was 90 in PRF group and 92 in MTA Group. A statistically significant difference was observed between the groups at 6 months of follow-up (P 0.05). Radiographic and clinical outcome in PRF group could suggest it as an acceptable alternative in pulpotomy of primary teeth. PRF holds a promising future in the area of primary tooth vital pulp therapy. View Show abstract The teaching of management of the pulp in primary molars across Europe Article Full-text available May 2017 Joana Monteiro Aifric Ni Chaollai M Duggal Aim. To determine which methods of primary pulp therapy are currently being taught in European dental schools. An online survey tool was employed to send questionnaires to paediatric dentistry departments of 202 European dental schools. Email addresses were obtained from the European Academy of Paediatric Dentistry and questionnaires were sent to one member of each department in December 2014. The survey included questions on treatment choices and clinical scenarios where respondents indicated how they would advise students to proceed, given a particular case. Fifty-one responses from 22 different countries were obtained. Eleven schools reported that they taught only undergraduate students, 4 only postgraduates and 36 taught both.AYBAR-GALLERY.COM/userfiles/files/conia-cdw0302-dishwasher-manual.pdf Forty-three schools taught indirect pulp capping, the most popular material being calcium hydroxide; 26 taught direct pulp capping, mostly using mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA). Teaching of pulpotomy was widespread across Europe, with MTA being the most popular material, taught in 37 schools, followed by ferric sulphate, in 29. Formocresol, however, was still being taught in 12 dental schools. Responses to the clinical scenarios were mostly in accordance with previously selected choices. This study had a representative sample, showing a wide variation in primary pulp therapies taught in Europe. Comparison with previous studies shows new trends in taught therapies, possibly driven by recent research in primary pulp management and the development of new materials. The overall success rates at the end of 12-month follow-up period were 6.9 and 71.4, respectively, after taking dropout patients into consideration, and the difference was statistically significant (P View Show abstract Erratum to: pulp bleeding color is an indicator of clinical and histohematologic status of primary teeth Article Apr 2017 Clin Oral Investig Naser Aslaminabad Marziyeh Parto Parya Emamverdizadeh Sajjad Shirazi View Comparative Evaluation of Clinical and Radiographic Success of Formocresol, Propolis, Turmeric Gel, and Calcium Hydroxide on Pulpotomized Primary Molars: A Preliminary Study Article Full-text available Jan 2017 Niraj Gokhale Shweta Hugar Aims. Despite various advents in technology, the present era marks a shift to phytotherapeutics and alternative modalities to conventional endodontic treatments. Newer endodontic modalities have been developed inculcating the ancient system of medicine. The present study was done to compare and evaluate the clinical pulp response and radiographic signs after pulpotomy in four groups of primary molar teeth treated with formocresol (control), propolis extract, turmeric gel, and calcium hydroxide respectively. Following ethical clearance, 90 primary molar teeth in 45 pediatric patients, aged between 4 and 9 years, were selected for pulpotomy. The patients were followed up for 6 months for clinical and radiographic signs and symptoms to evaluate the success of treatment. A comparable clinical and radiographic success rate was seen with all experimental groups as compared to the control (formocresol) group. With concerns about the safety of formocresol appearing in the dental and medical literature for more than 20 years, the materials used in this study can be considered as promising alternatives for formocresol in pediatric endodontic treatment. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA), Biodentine and Propolis as pulpotomy medicaments in primary dentition, both clinically and radiographically. A total of 75 healthy 3 to 10 yr old children each having at least one carious primary molar tooth were selected. Random assignment of the pulpotomy medicaments was done as follows: Group I, MTA; Group II, Biodentine; Group III, Propolis. All the pulpotomized teeth were evaluated at 3, 6, and 9 mon clinically and radiographically, based on the scoring criteria system. The clinical success rates were found to be similar among the three groups at 3 and 6 mon where as a significant decrease in success rate was observed in Group III (84) compared to both Group I (100) and Group II (100) at 9 mon. Radiographic success rates over a period of 9 mon in Groups I, II, and III were 92, 80, and 72, respectively. Teeth treated with MTA and Biodentine showed more favorable clinical and radiographic success as compared to Propolis at 9 mon follow-up. View Show abstract Assessment of the potential of Allium sativum oil as a new medicament for non-vital pulpotomy of primary teeth Article Full-text available Jul 2015 Shukry Gamal Mohammad Kusai Baroudi The objective of this study was to compare the clinical and radiographic effects of Allium sativum oil and formocresol in nonvital pulpotomy in primary teeth. Twenty children ranging in age from 4 to 8 years were included in the study. In every one of those children, pulpotomy was indicated for the primary molars. Pulpotomy procedure was performed and the radicular pulp tissue of one molar was capped with A. sativum oil in a cotton pellet while the other molar was capped with formocresol. The teeth were evaluated clinically and radiographically before and after 6 months using standard clinical and radiographic criteria. Statistically, these results revealed significant difference between the radiographic findings of nonvital pulpotomy in primary molars with the two medicaments. A. sativum oil has potent antibacterial properties that enable it to combat intracanal microbes in the infected pulp of primary molars. Better results were obtained when A. sativum oil was used. A. sativum oil had more powerful effects than formocresol on the infected pulp of primary nonvital molars. View Show abstract Global Burden of Untreated Caries Article Mar 2015 J DENT RES Nicholas J Kassebaum Eduardo Bernabe Manu Dahiya Wagner Marcenes We aimed to consolidate all epidemiologic data about untreated caries and subsequently generate internally consistent prevalence and incidence estimates for all countries, 20 age groups, and both sexes for 1990 and 2010. The systematic search of the literature yielded 18,311 unique citations. After screening titles and abstracts, we excluded 10,461 citations as clearly irrelevant to this systematic review, leaving 1,682 for full-text review. Furthermore, 1,373 publications were excluded following the validity assessment. Overall, 192 studies of 1,502,260 children aged 1 to 14 y in 74 countries and 186 studies of 3,265,546 individuals aged 5 y or older in 67 countries were included in separate metaregressions for untreated caries in deciduous and permanent teeth, respectively, using modeling resources from the Global Burden of Disease 2010 study. In 2010, untreated caries in permanent teeth was the most prevalent condition worldwide, affecting 2.4 billion people, and untreated caries in deciduous teeth was the 10th-most prevalent condition, affecting 621 million children worldwide. The global age-standardized prevalence and incidence of untreated caries remained static between 1990 and 2010. There is evidence that the burden of untreated caries is shifting from children to adults, with 3 peaks in prevalence at ages 6, 25, and 70 y. Also, there were considerable variations in prevalence and incidence between regions and countries. Policy makers need to be aware of a predictable increasing burden of untreated caries due to population growth and longevity and a significant decrease in the prevalence of total tooth loss throughout the world from 1990 to 2010.
