Later I was streaming ambient music to relax too and was absolutely astonished to hear each sound in crystal clear form. My kitten would dash to the window each time a bird call would emerge from the streaming music and once she even was awakened from her catnap to seek the bird she thought was in immediate vicinity. I am so happy with Bose system and it may be true there are much more expensive units out there that will produce a better sound experience, but for the price the Bose system was well worth every dollar spent. This is by far a remarkable sound system.No issues so far. I have had no issues with any of the components. I had an older version of Bose computer speakers that would pop very loudly when I would change the volume using the dial, but this set has not has that issue at all. Make sure the left and right speakers have an unobstructed placement for best results. Music, movies, and games sound great. These do a good job of making it sound like audio is coming from every direction, especially in games. Be aware that these are USB speakers, and connect to the computer via USB, so they will not use your computer's sound card. If you're OK with that, you can disable the computer sound card like I did.Our current Bose Wavemate, Bose Acoustimass, and multiple sets of headphones were just joined with a new Companion 5 system for our new office and it sounds outstanding with all of the media types that my Mac can toss it. I edit sound with Adobe Audition and Apple Logic and edit movie footage in Adobe Premiere Pro and Apple's Final Cut Studio X and natural sound is mandatory. The Bose C5 system gives me just the right balance and clarity to keep my mix and mastering efforts on the right track. One more thing that I learned is that you really do need to plug then directly into the system, or into a very hi powered USB switch or you will see them come and go so far as your system is concerned.My friend owned one of these and I finally got around to owning these speakers for my own computer and man they DO NOT disappoint. If you want to turn your home or office into a concert hall, these speakers are a way to go. Easy to set up, needs a little bit of room if you have multiple speakers but not too much moving. Very well worth the purchase for those of you who can afford it.I'll start off by stating the obvious, if you're looking at any Bose product be ready to spend some serious coin. The sound quality these speakers produce is phenomenal for the size, and almost everybody who's ever heard them has asked me questions about it. If you're planning on having a house party, these won't disappoint. I've had these playing all night with some bass heavy songs from Lil Uzi, Kendrick Lamar, Dr. Dre, etc. Zero distortion at nearly any volume level. I'll have more problems with items shaking off my desk before I experience any sound issues at high levels, and I don't think I've ever had them past 75. These are also great for other genres with more mids and highs, such as Rock. Listening to Dream On - Aerosmith, the vocals sound great and clear, all of the instruments are present and the bass isn't too heavy. I use them with a Macbook Pro, the USB connection is pretty straight forward and quick to use (no drivers to install). I've also hooked up an AUX cord to the Control Pod, that works well too. If there is anything I'd complain about these speakers, it would be the lack of bluetooth connectivity. Otherwise this is probably the most solid set of computer speakers on the market, in terms of sound quality, bass, small size and durability. I know people who've purchased these speakers almost 10 years ago, and they still work. Surprisingly they don't look outdated like you'd expect, they just lack some more modern features like bluetooth or USB-C. If you're looking for something loud, sleek and that'll last forever, skip all of the other options out there and save up for these. I also have some AE2 headphones which I'm pleased to say perform faultlessly, on the strength of these two products I purchased the Companion multimedia speakers, they were quickly connected to my PC without any problems and yes the sound reproduction is as I would have expected.excellent. They look very good either side of my all in one PC. I waited to be impressed.They are no better then the Creative Sounds I had before, in fact a little less capable if Im honest.Most annoyingly, there's no light to indicate that the rotary knob on the front has been turned or left 'on'. Overall, sadly over-priced and under-delivering.With the matte black finish it pairs perfectly with high-end office peripherals e.g., like your all too expensive monitors. Let me cut straight into it - it's not as good as I expected. I won't say don't buy these, but please keep the packaging!My Cambridge Soundworks system is more than 15 years old and starting to show its age (though still sounds great). This Bose Companion 2 Series III Multimedia Speaker System looked good, both from a price point and value for money. Easy to set up and simple to use, it was ready to go within half an hour - and back in its box before the clock struck one. It sounds boxy, lacks true bass, is flimsy and occupies more desk space than it can justify. There are better speaker systems off the shelf at Home Bargains - and at a fraction of the price.
