The 2 small speakers able to provide the surround sound feel and the bass is good. Thats amazing. This system does what it advertise. However, This is my second system because the first one was not working. It shut off randomly. The build quality is very cheap for the main unit. FYI, the inside component just a regular computer DVD rom hook up with a media motherboard. I got it for a great discount so that I don't complaint at all. Overall, The sound is fantastic and i enjoy it. But Just make sure you got the working unit. Pro Very easy to setup, just plug and play. Good surround sound feel (consider this is not the real 5.1) Enough bass Good sound for movie and gaming. Con Cheap built quality on the speaker and the main unit The sound of mid and high range is clean but could be better. Only 1 optical input (big mistake) No HDMI input Option for sound adjustment is very limit. Missing Blu ray. I sound popping, lagged sound where i have to turn it off and back on, maybe twice a month. When it works it sounds good. Im not sure about the price though. You can get much more for less. Its the small size vs sound thats nice about this system Please try again later. Hate this site 5.0 out of 5 stars This is the best sounding set of only 3 speakers I have ever had. I have had home theater systems in the upwards of 5k for the speaker's alone. My systems have always consisted of 7 speakers not to include an externally independently powered sub woofer. You can not fit a better quality sound in such a small package. We had moved and my wife was not willing to let me run new expensive sleeker wire around our big living room like I had previously within our 10 years of marriage when I was hiding wire under carpet, within walls, ceiling panels, the basement and anywhere else that I could put them. The system I got was given to me by a family member who passed away. He had purchased this about 10 years ago and it still bumps and pounds like it just came out the box. If you have limited space and you r wife or significant other hates wires this is your best option. These pictures represent a few of the speaker's I have spent thousands of dollars on. Guess what they are doing now. Absolutely nothing lol. Please try again later. Further, with so many elements in the equipment bay I wanted to be on the lower end of wattage as I live in a temperate clime. I agree that scarcity of inputs is a challenge when you have, as I do, Blu-Ray and.Small, cheap, automatic - and with modern TV's having multiple HDMI ports and lots of audio inputs there's no worries, mate. The answer for me was a Harmony 890 Wireless Universal Remote that replaces all other devices, including Bose' remote. With onscreen tone controls I only have to open the bay to put in a DVD - but as I'm sure you note disks are on the way out as streaming comes to the fore. Thus I've devoted all the space and attention that I'm going to to this installation, which pleases me and reached the end here. Please try again later. Please try again later. Tracy Vest 4.0 out of 5 stars When I watch movies and DVD's with surround sound, it literally feels like I have more than the tiny speakers with the awesome output. The are compact and disappear on my entertainment center, projecting the sound to the rear (in fact, the best seat in the house appears to be my dining room, which is off to the side of my living room. The entire system is pretty compact, especially the speakers - but what power they punch. And it is pretty easy to set up which is great for a plug and play person like me - I just want to plug it in and have it work. Of course every product has its limitations - on my 321, sometimes I will lose audio and have to turn the entire system off for about 30 seconds to reboot - it is a pain to say the least. And I would have liked more audio inputs (or are they outputs - I am technically challenged) so that I can add a CD player that can hold more than a single CD at a time. Also - the audio level never is quite the same from application to application. If I just watched a movie then want to pop in a CD, the sound can be deafening if I forget to turn it down. But the pros outweight the cons for me - I love hearing all those great sound effects that my TV just cannot capture. Please try again later. Please try again later. C. V. Ramirez 2.0 out of 5 stars Before this i had not any experience in home teather or any hi-fi product. I just bought this because my wife and i saw the demo at Best Buy and it seemed really great!. When i arrive home and setup all the components (including ps3 connection via optical audio) i tested first with music from the ps3 (mp3 and aac files at 320 kbps and normal CD's) and what a disappointment!!!!!!! music sound detailed in highs and lows but immediately i felt something was missing, like the body of the music with all songs i tested. Then tested with movies, in this field the sound improved a lot but the thing is i wanted to use this more for listening music (70) than watching movies (30). Pros: - Made for people who don't want to know anything about wires, bulky speakers or specific audio setups. - Small and attractive design - Good for movies Cons: - Music does not sound rich. - for what you pay you can buy better amplifier and speakers (entry level) - Does not recognize DTS Master Audio and Dolby True HD - Limited audio input connections After a year of experience i could say im sure that i won't buy again a Bose. Please try again later. Please try again later. Rick 4.0 out of 5 stars We bought this system specifically because my wife wanted a simple, easy-to-use HT system. We have had a Bose Lifestyle stereo system with all-in-one tuner and CD player for 15 years, so we are used to Bose simplicity. While I am a technophile who could live with a zillion button remote, I was happy to purchase this system. Pros: 1. Excellent sound from TV, DVD, CD and iPod sources. The new Gemstone speakers deliver much improved resolution over the older Bose Lifestyle AMT cube speakers. The new GS speakers and the Bose media console are also shielded against the noise that can come from video systems, the sound emerges from dead silence. Dialog from DVD movies and live TV is very articulate. Don't leave the sub out in the open or away from a wall. 2. The upconverting DVD player is excellent through the HDMI port and compares very favorably to a very highly rated and expensive name brand Blu-Ray player that upconverts regular DVDs. 3. Ease of use is very good with just a TV and the Bose media console with the Bose universal remote. 4. Don't believe comments that imply that this system re-creates some of the rear-speaker sound of a 5.1 system. It doesn't. But it does create a beautiful, extremely wide soundstage in front of you with very good resolution of vocal details. You won't have wires running everywhere and you won't need to have an electrician run wires through your walls, etc. Five minutes into a movie and you won't miss having rear speakers, but you will hear everything on the soundtrack. 6. Fun to use. Not something usually mentioned about HT systems. Cons: 1. Add more gadgets than just a TV and you will run into connection limitations. For a muliple device setup (e.g. dvd recorder, Blu-Ray player, VCR, etc.), these devices will end up being connected to your flat screen and their video switched from there while the audio from some of these devices will have to also be switched by the Bose media console. Important to know; there is only one HDMI output from the media console to your flat screen. Multiple gadgets can be done, but research and plan how they will be connected ahead of time. 2. As mentioned, the Bose remote works well for just the media console and most flatscreens. But in order to control the multiple devices above, it is not optimum and began to get confusing for my wife. I purchased a Logitech Harmony One remote to replace the Bose remote for this reason. Big success, the Harmony One works well and allows even simpler one-button controlling of multiple devices. 3. I repeat again, it would be nice to have more HDMI inputs and outputs on the media console. This system was obviously designed for a simple or modest HT system. 4. The included cables for a) connecting the speakers to the subwoofer cube and, b) the media console to the subwoofer cube may not be long enough. Both cables also have proprietary connectors. Fortunately, you can purchase much longer versions at the Bose website for reasonable prices (surprise!). I did in order to place the sub in a corner position and it was more than worth every penny. Bottom Line - An excellent solution for a simple HT system. Please try again later. Please try again later. Bif Bechenschnifter 2.0 out of 5 stars I was in a big-box store, shopping for a 5.1 system, when the Bose kicked on behind me, and I thought the store had hired a string quartet. I ended up spending about twice (or more) than I originally intended, but never regretted the purchase. I used the 321 as my music system in the living room, as well as for the DVD player. I loved the sound. The DVD player could be a little fussy, but most disks played without problems. Finally, after over a decade of great service (and probably thousands of hours of use), the disk player started to give out. I suspect the drive mechanism was getting old, but perhaps the optics were funky. In any case, I decided to get a new system, but figured I'd give Bose a call to see about their options. The customer service people, there, were very helpful, and ended up sending me a brand new system at a deeply discounted price (in exchange for my old system, which they refurbish). So far, so good. I've read reviews from people complaining about a fussy DVD drive, but I've used the new 321 for some pretty funky disks and they've all been read flawlessly. The sound of the new system is even better than the original. Now for my complaint. Bose, for some weird reason, hates headphone jacks. The old 321 had RCA audio out jacks that you could use for headphones (I plugged a wireless Sennheiser setup into the box). The new system has no such outlets. I called Bose to ask why, and the folks there act like it's an insane question. I got the same response when I asked why their Wave radios also lack headphone jacks. It makes no sense. There are plenty of times when I enjoy listening to music over headphones and Bose is remiss in not accommodating that simple request. The absence of the jacks is one reason to consider not purchasing this system, the intransigence of the company (in this regard) is another. UPDATED 20 July 2015: I see that some of these are still available (used) on Amazon. Do not buy one! I've had two (didn't learn my lesson on the first one), and the DVD player is absolute crap (doesn't play some DVDs at all, barely plays others). The sound of the unit is great, but that doesn't make up for a worthless DVD player. Please try again later. Please try again later. David Topping 5.0 out of 5 stars Please try again later. Please try again later. Corey J. Robinson 5.0 out of 5 stars It did not take long to find out that it can't be beat. For such a simple system I was amazed at the performance. Let's start with the good: Very stylish, compact, and super easy to set up. The set-up I did was not your standard set-up either. I took advantage of running optical audio from my cable box (good idea) and I use the HDMI output to a 37inch LCD. I did not want all of my sound to always have to go through the unit so I had to use a few more wires. The sound is absolutely unbeatable for the size of system. If you are a sound junkie like myself you will appreciate the clarity and reality of the reproduction. Music is concert-like, DVD's play like you are in a mini-theater. People that do not like the sound of Bose generally like a lot of unnatural bass and Bose refuses to give in to that fake noise. I replaced a high end Sony 5.1 system with this for aesthetics and am kicking myself for not doing it sooner. The sound is now simply way better at all volume levels. Even 2.0 sound sounds better through these tiny speakers than they did with my old system. Now for the not so good: You need a fairly recent and not so cheap universal remote if you want to control this thing. Unless you don't mind the remote it comes with which claims to be universal but I found otherwise. The aqua display of text on the front of the unit can detour your focus when watching the TV screen. There is no equalizer if you wanted to create a different sound other than the Bose standard. Sometimes I want that cheesy bass although it pumps out plenty. Lastly, you almost need to use the optical audio connection to ensure full volume control. Without it you have to turn up the volume for different applications. I use the optical so I have no complaints. Before I go, I just want to let you know that if you want a small system that can fill your room with rich authentic sound then you are on the right track with this system. You can put a pretty nice system together for the price of this thing but what for??? 3 wires and you are done and have the best sound money can buy. Please try again later. Please try again later. John Trent 5.0 out of 5 stars He can now hear things much more clearly and at much lower volume levels--visitors no longer need to fear hearing loss. Based on his experience, I bought the 321 GS system for myself. Pluses: 1. Sound quality. I, too, hear much greater clarity of voices and sound effects at lower volumes than my previous system gave me (older receiver, separate DVD player, quality floor-standing speakers). I don't know what kind of frequency response manipulation Bose does, but it works for me. 2. Wide ranging, effective tone controls. I love listening to MP3 files of old-time radio shows on cd's.
