The SA3 has a dip switch for local source auto select (I think it is switch C). However there is a problem, you have no way of setting the volume. At most you can set the line level volume going into the SA3 by using a variable audio source (phone, laptop, etc) but this does not affect the final volume of the speakers. All you are doing is adjusting gain on the input, not the output. So yes, but actually no. If I knew the expected resistance range, I could just permanently set it to 50 or something. While it is common to place a potentiometer on the output stage, the SA3 doesn’t do that. What I can’t tell you however is what the default power output on the output stage after a power cycle. What that means is that if you interrupt power to the SA3 I cannot tell you if, without a BoseLink connection what volume level your speakers would be or if the SA3 will even power on the output stage without a signal from the BoseLink port. If you have a compatible Lifestyle system, the 2nd zone remote and something to plug into the RCAs, you can do some testing to see what happens after you set the volume with the 2nd zone remote, disconnect the BoseLink connection and then power cycle the SA3. Dont use the source to adjust volume as it will shut off at lower volume levels, best to use the VCS with a potentiometer.
