The bass this produces is amazing for the size and the treble is crystal clear. At low volume, like for sleeping, it sounds really nice but you can also crank it up and fill the whole house with sound. The new design is really sharp looking as well. Only complaints are the fact that it doesn't have any controls on the unit, everything must be done from the remote other than turning it on and off and the fact that it doesn't fade the volume in and out when turning it on and off like the older models did. I do agree with many reviewers that, although the power cord serves as an external antenna, many people need an extra antenna for receiving better reception or more stations. I do receive a few stations perfectly but I know that if I purchase an antenna I will receive more stations. For the price of this radio I think Bose should have included an extra antenna. I think I will go ahead and order one now. Even with this one minor complaint I still give this radio 5 stars.I've tried several inside antennas without any success. While the sound is good with external devices connected--the radio is crap. Don't waste your hard earned money. I do wish I had bought one with CD player, to hear more music that I prefer, but chose this for compactness. We didn't need the CD player on this one because we have it up high in an outside covered area. The sound is great and the remote works perfect even from a distance where we have patio chairs. We live in a very remote area, but the Bose has no trouble at all bringing in our one station. Other cheaper radios we have had in the past were a constant problem, and we were always trying to tune in the station, and they never worked very well. With the Bose we get an excellent signal with no additional antenna, just the cord serves as the antenna.
