CAUTION: Do not use any wall-mounting hardware other than the WB-135 Wall Mount Kit to mount the speaker array on a wall. For best sound quality, the speaker array should not be placed inside a cabinet, or diagonally in a corner.Note: If you are using an optical cable, be sure to remove the protective cover from the plug. When inserting the plug into the connector, make sure it is pushed in all the way. You may sense a slight resistance before you feel it click into place. The audio output from the source should be connected to the TV and to the CineMate 1 SR speaker array. Refer to “Product overview” on page 6. Note: Do not plug the power cord into an AC power outlet at this time. You will be instructed to do this later in the setup process. Eik C 5.0 out of 5 stars So I read reviews for weeks before deciding which to go for. I had a Vizio 5.1 Soundbar, which was alright. This bose with just one tiny Soundbar and a sub killed the Vizio. Some people said the bass on the cinemate 15 is too weak. I realized that placing the sub sideways, against the wall, and the vent facing another wall, made the base sound fuller, double than when the sub was placed by my tv. Sub placement matters with any unit with a dedicated subwoofer.Hefty bass but not muddy. Bright treble but not screechy. Don't be put off by the anti-hype - there's a reason why Bose products are more expensive than your average brand. Things to note: - Bose uses a proprietary cable to connect the subwoofer to the soundbar. It's long but not long enough in case you want to move the subwoofer far from the TV.Those settings seemed to be the biggest complaint with this system, so I figured it would be fine for me. And it is -- the balance between base, treble, voices, whispers, music, etc.My problem is that this system has issues, all of which are intermittent. I tried to send it back right after I bought it but Adorama said once it's shipped I had to deal with Bose, and I never took the effort. My mistake, because the issues got worse. In fact, I don't even know where my Samsung remote for the TV is anymore since I just use the Bose remote now. There are 2 improvements I would like to see though. You have to manually change the bass levels every time which is annoying but not a deal breaker and also you can't see the volume bar when you are trying to go lower or higher. I guess the latter is not really up to Bose but up to the integration between the system and TVs.It periodically spits out static randomly when either turning on or changing Channels. He plugged it in and the light came on. It didn't stay on. As soon as I turned the speakers on the light went off. These speakers I was so chuffed with had blown two power packs. I would have sent them back but when I moved house before Christmas I had thrown all my packaging away. No box to return them. I have bought myself a very cheap set of speakers just to see if there is any other reason for my Bose speakers not to work. No, these work fine. The sound is not anywhere near as good, but they work. Really disappointed. I won't say don't buy these, but please keep the packaging!My Cambridge Soundworks system is more than 15 years old and starting to show its age (though still sounds great). This Bose Companion 2 Series III Multimedia Speaker System looked good, both from a price point and value for money. Easy to set up and simple to use, it was ready to go within half an hour - and back in its box before the clock struck one. It sounds boxy, lacks true bass, is flimsy and occupies more desk space than it can justify. There are better speaker systems off the shelf at Home Bargains - and at a fraction of the price.
