We Can you help 5.0 out of 5 stars I bought the newest Polk and Bose at exactly the same to to compare the two of them at the same time. As for the rest let me tell you I have not bought one under 300 so the comparison it’s not something cheap again something expensive. That being said the Bose blew the doors off the Polk audio system. The only thing that would be better is a set of rears to go with it. I would definitely recommend the BoseGood looking Extremely Easy to use if your TV or receiver has an optical audio output. Effect is better than most other 2.1 speakers avilable, making it mostly the only one available in market who need 5.1 effect with 2.1. To be honest its not like 5.1, but much better than 2.1. The surround effect depends a lot on the acoustics of your room. Atleast for me, I don't get the kind of surround effect that they advertize, still feel the bass is well done to be high when needed and low when not. Would expect some theatre like effect on dialogues as well. Remote does not integrate with anything else, you need to,I stress again, you must use the remote that comes with the speakers for controlling volume. Some times when the volume goes high as we change channels or play differnt videos of diffent quality I run searching for the remote to controll volume, very annoying. Bass cannot be controlled on the remote. If you duck in your aucoustimass under a table or couch you practically cannot control bass at all. I like to keep bass high during day time while low at night to avoid complaints from neighbors. Annoying to walk upto the module everytime. Speakers do not turn on with the TV, need to turn them on separately. Inspite of all the issues, I give credit for Bose for making such amazing sound possible from simple, small and elegant speakers.Tried an LG sound bar (sounded terrible), a vizio 5.1 sound bar, better than the LG but just missing that special quality. Even tried a Sony 5.1 3D system, which lacked big sound and the 3D was sub standard quality wise. Finally I had enough.Mainly wanting a simple remote, and something that used the tv's optical. Bose delivered! The remote is simple, only a few controls (much like the vizio sound bar remote). But where I was totally satisified was with the great sound from this 2.1 system. Clear distinct sound fills the room. Sounds like a 5.1 sound system. The bose 2.1 system sounds much better then many other 5.1 systems I've tried. All frequencies are true to life. The bass is not over processed and fake sounding like the bass with other systems. I've heard highs and lows I have never heard before, from watching the same movies using other sound systems or just the TV speakers. I don't know how Bose does it or why their speakers sound so clear. And how they produce such a wide range of sound, but they do. This 2.1 system fills the room with 5.1 all direction clear sound. I did compare the Cinemate system to the GS, and could not tell any difference. Other than not getting the universal remote, the Bose Cinemate system sounds equal to the Bose GS. I like the simple functional remote, easy setup and best of all the room filling great sound. Movies at home are much more fun. I highly recommend mounting the two speakers on the wall well above your TV. Much better movie experience with wall mounting the speakers. My only personal complaint would be the speaker wire length. Personally, I could have used about 7 or 8 more feet of wire going to the two speakers. But I made do with the length I had to work with. Bose might offer speaker wire extensions. I really don't know.In order to navigate out of this carousel please use your heading shortcut key to navigate to the next or previous heading. I use this in my kid's TV room, and their DVDs and Netflix always sound astoundingly good. The bass module houses three power amplifiers and the magic DSP that reproduces 5.1 sound from the two small speakers. The TOSLINK input decodes 5.1 if you want. The CineMate system sounds fantastic for cinema, with exceptional dialog clarity, enveloping spatial sound and strong, clean bass. You can spend a lot more and get a lot less! It sets up in seconds. Plug the woofer into the wall, plug the remote receiver cord into the woofer and place the receiver under your TV. Put each main speaker on a shelf on either side of your screen, and plug the speaker wires into the back of the woofer. Plug either a stereo RCA cord or a TOSLINK cable from your TV or player into the back of the remote receiver, and you're done. I don't bother. It has the tiny remote control. As expected, the CineMate II system is voiced perfectly for cinema. Voices are extremely clear, making it easy to hear subtle nuances in dialog. Rear-panned sound doesn't usually go behind you, but it's still far better than any sound bar I've heard. It's voiced like many cinema venues. It plays super-loud and has great bass, but it's not great for Hi-Fi eyes-closed careful music listening. It has some distortion audible in much of the range on pure tones, possibly added deliberately as part of the efforts to clarify dialog, and the voicing isn't great for serious music — but if you're having a party, it runs circles around any iPod dock. It covers the complete traditional music range evenly. Bass notes are wonderfully disctint, each with its own pitch and they sound staccato (detached and separate) if played staccoto. This is much better than many other home subwoofers that just boom the same note all the time due to too much resonance. I pop the speakers close to the side walls, far away from my screen, for the widest sound. Bose suggests not letting them get too far away from your screen. In any case, leave the speakers pointed straight ahead, don't point them towards the center of the room. Bose intends for the sound to bounce all over. The CineMate automatically selects whichever you're using: either the stereo RCA inputs or the TOSLINK connector. Bose is generous, but you will need to provide your own TOSLINK cable if you use one. To switch among different sources, feed your CineMate from your TV or other device that selects what you're watching. If this source also controls the volume, you could turn up the volume with the CineMate remote and then use only your main remote. Therefore you always have to use the Bose remote control to set the volume or turn it on or off, meaning you now have one more remote control to have to find just to change the volume. Therefore, I prefer the tiny remote that I can understand. I don't know about you, but I don't have a weekend to spend stringing wires, bolting speakers to the wall and screwing around with a hundred idiotic menu options on a receiver just to get it to sound right. I just plugged in our CineMate, and it sounds great! The CineMate is ideal for just installign and enjoying big sound immediaitly.
