I then tried to get a replacement from Bose to no avail so I went and found this replacement on amazon and it was the best 16.99 I spent this year. Just pull out the tab make sure the battery is inserted correctly and BAM back to the beautiful Bose sound. I have the cinemate 2 series and it works like a champ. It seems cheap but it works great so I can only give it positive reviews. I dislike that the remote is even smaller than the original one that came with the Bose (which was already quite small!), and it has an extremely limited range where it works. You basically have a 2 foot square area where you can use it and have it respond appropriately. Holding down buttons also doesn't do anything - you have to push the button once for each notch of volume you go up and down. So, it works, but only in the minimal sense. We really could't one day so I thank God could get a replacement. We found the other one the day after it was lost. So now we both have one and hopefully if one goes missing we still have the other. My only complaint about the functionality is that the volume won't adjust by holding the buttons down. If this worked, I would have given the product a 4 star rating (there's no getting around the cheap, slick plastic covering the face of the remote. Unfortunately for me, I dropped it in a glass of water and had to buy a new one. Since I didn't like the really light weight and cheap feel, I went with another model that costs just a little more. Everyone should have a spare remote for this system as there are no external controls for this Bose Cinemate sound system. If the remote goes out you are screwed, great Bose sound system, but lacking severely in the controls portion of the design. The code that is suggested in the manual is 31229 but it doesn't work for me. I have a few questions. 1.)
