So anytime I wanted full screen I had to go back to my old tv remote. Since digital channels have been around for several years now I was surprised that this was not a feature on this remote. In our area we do not have any channels with whole numbers. Within a few days of purchasing this remote I realized from my recommendations on Amazon.com that a new version from Boze was coming out which is the RC-PWSII. I called Boze and inquired if it you could input the digital numbers. Upon my pushing the issue in regards to their online photo showing a hypen and asking if that was to be used for the decimal point, the tech checked further and returned to say you could in fact input the digital numbers via the hypen button. At that point, I pre-ordered the new remote. Since I was going to have to wait a few weeks to get it, I chose to keep this remote to use in the interrim. Sometimes it would scroll through the list of inputs backwards and forwards, other times it would only move forward. Then on day 31 (too late to return) the channel button stopped working. Some times you could change the channel while other times it just renewed the current channel. During all these difficulties my original tv remote continued to work flawlessly. I received my new remote and will update this review and will do a review on it when I get it programmed. I am hoping to have better luck with it. In all good conscience I would not recommend this remote if you have digital channel numbers and want to use the previous channel button.I wanted something larger that wouldn't get lost in the sofa cushions and go missing for days. It certainly works, right out of the box, to control the Bose unit with no programming necessary. It has the functions to control your other devices, but beware if you set it up to do so. I paired it with my Samsung television and when the remote is idle, i.e. no being used to raise or lower volume, it takes on a life of its own and starts randomly controlling the television. I need to click another function button to get it off the TV mode yet it switches back and starts to change the TV channels on its own or power the TV on and off. Most of the time I need to remove the batteries to keep it from going insane.Bose Universal remote is built very solid and programming my TV, Blu-ray, and Verizon box only took less than 5 minutes. One big peice of advise to navigate through the large number of codes would be to determine how old your equipment is. If it is fairly new start with the codes at the bottom of list as they appear to be listed from older to newer. The whole programming took roughly 15 minutes to complete. I absolutely love this new remote and not having to fumble with four remotes at a time.That said so far for all basic usage this Bose Universal Solo remote is just the job and so handy that ALL volume is now controlled in one place by a single button. If you duck in your aucoustimass under a table or couch you practically cannot control bass at all. I like to keep bass high during day time while low at night to avoid complaints from neighbors. Annoying to walk upto the module everytime. Speakers do not turn on with the TV, need to turn them on separately. Inspite of all the issues, I give credit for Bose for making such amazing sound possible from simple, small and elegant speakers.Tried an LG sound bar (sounded terrible), a vizio 5.1 sound bar, better than the LG but just missing that special quality. Even tried a Sony 5.1 3D system, which lacked big sound and the 3D was sub standard quality wise. Finally I had enough.Mainly wanting a simple remote, and something that used the tv's optical. Bose delivered! The remote is simple, only a few controls (much like the vizio sound bar remote). But where I was totally satisified was with the great sound from this 2.1 system. Clear distinct sound fills the room. Sounds like a 5.1 sound system. The bose 2.1 system sounds much better then many other 5.1 systems I've tried. All frequencies are true to life. The bass is not over processed and fake sounding like the bass with other systems. I've heard highs and lows I have never heard before, from watching the same movies using other sound systems or just the TV speakers. I don't know how Bose does it or why their speakers sound so clear. And how they produce such a wide range of sound, but they do. This 2.1 system fills the room with 5.1 all direction clear sound. I did compare the Cinemate system to the GS, and could not tell any difference. Other than not getting the universal remote, the Bose Cinemate system sounds equal to the Bose GS. I like the simple functional remote, easy setup and best of all the room filling great sound. Movies at home are much more fun. I highly recommend mounting the two speakers on the wall well above your TV. Much better movie experience with wall mounting the speakers. My only personal complaint would be the speaker wire length. Personally, I could have used about 7 or 8 more feet of wire going to the two speakers. But I made do with the length I had to work with. Bose might offer speaker wire extensions.
