Johnboy 4.0 out of 5 stars I was really going for the minimalist look, without sacrificing performance or sound quality. I previously had a 5.1 setup and while this isn't true surround sound it is pretty good for what it is. It was very easy to setup and the sound is pretty good. I have the unit in a smaller room and it sounds fairly impressive. Watching a movie like gravity really was impressive with the system. The subwoofer on its lowest setting is more than sufficient. I have had friends come over looking for hidden speakers. I do however think that the subwoofer does more than just bass, but I am no spec junkie or expert. I have friends with both 5.1 setups and the newer 7 speaker configurations and to a true junkie this will probably not cut the mustard. I just didn't want to deal with running wires through the walls. Other soundbars don't really hold a candle to this unit in my opinion. This Bose bar is powerful enough to rattle pictures on my walls. There is however one major weak feature with this system, it has no HDMI support. I understand that HDMI isn't really necessary with a system like this but it would have made the system more convenient to wire. Especially since it seems that newer tv's are phasing out older tech like optical and digital sound, on my TV the optical port sticks straight out the back so I had to get a 90 degree adaptor to make it work with optical. The remote it comes with looks like something from 2004 but I really don't care because I am using a Logitech Harmony Ultimate remote which works well with the system. Additionally, my TV gets a little quirky at times with the Bose simulated surround. I am still working out kinks (i.e. audio settings) but I have had issues with the sound cutting out, particularly with my Apple TV. So far this has been mostly on my TV's end, but it is worth noting.
