I decided to replace an 8yr old surround sound system I had in the living room. Since I was so impressed by the C5's, I decided to make another Bose purchase.the Acoustimass 10. I just finished installing the system yesterday. After a bit of tweaking my Yamaha receiver, and the Acoustimass module, I found the sweet spot. It sounds fantastic, especially considering the size of the cubes.I coupled this system with a pair of the Bose in-wall speakers. I am very pleased with the small form factor of the speakers for surround sound in the living room. The front speakers disappear into the shelves of the entertainment center. Honestly, whose wife wants to decorate a room with large floor speakers. In my case, form is important for living room speakers. Function is much better than the basic speakers in the television. All of my cables are hidden. I have had no problems with this speaker system. It can certainly get loud enough.It's a substantial amount of time and cash getting this system installed correctly but, that first tune told me it's all worth it. So, to all you Bose haters, what the heck are you talking about. Correctly paired with recommended components, correctly installed and balanced - this system delivers all the high end crispness, midrange clarity and that low end boom you feel in your whole body. In short, it delivers that believability all true music lovers long for. Oh - and it does a great job on HD, 5.1 digital video content too. If you are not getting great performance out of the Acoustimass 10, then something is not right somewhere. Stylish, SMALL, and most of all, sounds so good. I am loving it. The sound takes center stage and not the speaker due to its tiny footprint. Don't wait untill later just get them.My advice, if you want AWESOME sound out of your theater surround system, save your money and get a BOSE system cause you just can't beat the performance!!Unfortunately, due to the proprietary equalizer that comes with them, they are not compatible with nearly all of the new digital THX systems, which do not feature a main speaker pre-amp output loop to connect the equalizer. I initially wanted to use the 901's as the main left and right for music, and for movies. I connected this system, and I find I don't need the 901s, and my wife is happier with the smaller size. This is an absolutely astounding system, despite the size of the speakers. The sub sits in the corner behind my television. Its a nice feature that they provide all the speaker wire to connect your room. My room is 15x30, and I had plenty of wire to go in the wall, down and across the basement ceiling and back up. I purchased the stands for the rear speakers, which are perfect. If I were building a house, I'd prewire and use the wall brackets, so the speakers nearly disappear. I don't know how they get such quality sound and range out of these tiny speakers. I have not seen any sound degradation, even when I turn up the system as loud as I can stand it. I already have wiring pulled through my walls and it's the normal 2 wires with bare ends that connect to a standard spring-post connector. In order to use my existing wiring I would have had to add RCA connectors (and soldering) to one end and buy BOSE AC-2 connectors to accept my wiring at the speakers. And the 5 speakers all physically connect to the subwoofer. Huh? Really? These may be great sounding speakers, I don't know. But for me, they weren't worth the installation hassle.I've always wanted a bose system and finally bought one.Absolutely ZERO Brackets are included! I had a lot of questions prior to purchasing this product, so maybe this can help some people. Bose is my Go-To for sound, so when I saw this I was very excited. We don't like sound bars very much so we wanted an actual speaker system. The bass is very robust and we don't have the bass turned up all the way. 1. 100 satisfied with this product. The wires are a lot thicker than standard speaker cable. I was quite happy with it. I will add more photos if I can at a later date, I'm not home right now. 2.I would definitely recommend taking everything OUT OF THE BOX first. The wires all have special connectors to go into the speakers, so no cutting is required unless you are wall mounting and using the WB-50 Wall Bracket. When you do cut, the color of the ground is obviously black, with the other cable being color coded to the sub connection (like Rear Left is Green, Rear Right is Light Purple) so it helped us when setting up cables to know which went where. 4. The sub is a lot deeper than we expected (See the image it hangs out a little bit) It's the entire width of the box and like 27lbs alone. 5. ZERO WALL BRACKETS ARE INCLUDED. Slide Connect WB-50 Worked fine for this speaker model, but we did have to cut and strip the cables to go into the brackets. They are flush mount. If you use the connector included, your cable will be bent weird and it just doesn't work. The only one where we have the bracket and did NOT cut was the center because we made a hole to the storage and just ran the entire cable through. 5a. I bring this up because I asked the question here on amazon: If the center speaker came with one, to which they told me yes. They recommend 4-8 oHm, this one is supposedly a 6, but either way, we are happy with how it works. 7. Sub has two knobs to make adjustments as you'd like. I hope that helps. It took us a few hours to set it up, since we had never done one before to this scale. (I had a little 4 speaker in my apartment when I was in college, we ran cable under carpet.) We love it!Receiver used: Marantz NR1509.Worth the higher price (than other brands). As for the special connectors used on the speaker wiring, if I needed to lengthen or shorten the lengths of the wires, I just cut somewhere in-between the factory ends and added or subtracted wire. Just be sure to keep the polarity straight, and use good crimp connections or solder.I found the bass lacking in my 20X20 living room though.Be ready to buy a receiver which is not included. The Bose connections to the speakers aren't just the red and black wiring that other speakers are that would have allowed me to use them. Are you looking at just using it for a sub, or what are your intentions. There is a couple of issues that I can see to start.Second issue is volume controll of the amp which comes from serial data, however this is also bypassable with some effort. I will let you know how my project progresses Now I finally got my hands on the system. Unfortunately it seems like the sub is AM9P. The prior owner had a really crappy repair-job on the input-cable (the 8-pin DIN-cable). I cant understand how he have connected this. Pins 3 and 5 are the grounds for the two channels. The important ones are of course the ones for serial Data and turn-on voltage. Make sure they are correct. And by the way, the reference you found for the male 8-pin DIN connector is correct.
