The BR-600 features eight audio tracks that can be used for recording and playback.Use the TRACK faders to adjust the volume separately for each track.Effective use of these allows you to add greater breadth to the sound. This enables you to select the combination of audio quality and recording time that is most suitable for the material you are recording. If the button flashes in red, that track is ready for recording. fig.00-480 The status of each track can be determined from the indicator on the button. No recorded data exists on the track. You can select any one of these V-Tracks for recording or playback. This allows a wide range of uses, such as recording one take of a guitar solo or vocal, and then recording another take without having to erase the first one. Playback repeats in the portion set with Repeat as shown below. This may make it difficult for you to set the repeat portion exactly as you desire.Recording automatically starts at the auto punch-in location, so start playing what you want to record. However, sometimes you want to change the connection order. On the BR-600, you can accommodate a wide variety of situations by changing the point to which the insert effects are connected. Follow the procedure below to change where insert effects are connected. The algorithms that can be selected will differ for each bank. To select the algorithm that you wish to use, first select the effect bank that includes that algorithm, and then refer to the “Effect Patch List”. And on memory cards, you can store five “Song Patches,” which are patches that can be used on an individual song basis. Using this feature, we will be able to correct pitches in real time and in semitone units. The BR-600 will stop playback. In certain cases, this will reduce the number of incorrect detections. In actual practice, however, there may be situations where you want to correct only a certain section or adjust the pitch differently. Smth (Smooth) The value set here is added to the value for the “Smooth” patch parameter (p. 127). When set to 0, the correction proceeds at the rate set in the patch’s “Smooth”. I had great fun learning and knocked up a test piece within a day. That's why I was very excited to find the ProAudioEXP video tutorial for this device. It has been incredibly helpful in learning the ins and outs of the unit, allowing me to take full advantage of everything it has to offer. I highly recommend this, and will be buying other video tutorials from ProAudioEXP in the near future. A A.R. BR 600 David's video tutorials answer the questions no one else will answer. Concise; simple, and straight forward. It greatly increased the potential of my BR-600. Based on the included manual, I used about 30 of what it offers, or used in a wrong or more complex way. Yeah, maybe I could get further if I played around with it a little but hey, why not get the help of a specialist and save time with guaranteed results. Now, even if I don t use a 100 of it, I am aware of it s potential. David does a great job explaining every feature of the BR-600 in detail without being redundant or overly didactic. The beat programming part was particularly helpful. Thanks for your work David and, I probably shouldn t be saying this but, in this case, USD 29.95 was a bargain! M M. Great Product Good video quality with many great examples. The lessons go at a pace that anyone can follow too.https://ampgrenaille.com/share/files/case-530-ck-manual.pdf I would recomend this for even an advanced user as you learn little tricks and ways to use the device that you may not have thought of. T T. Outstanding tutorial DVD Hi, I've been watching these video-tutorials over and over again and now everything is very easy to understand. Thanks a million for these. One request if I may. I'm wich for a tutorial on the Rhythm section, the drums. A whole song from start to end with fills and stuff, let's say 2min 50sec or something. Thanks again.I had a happy hour watching the videos. Best regards Torbjrn Trnqvist Sweden, Eskilstuna A A. Great Tutorial on BR-600 Actually the only reason I decided to buy a BR 600 instead of other similar digital recorders, is the availability of this video. The video is very straight forward, simple and takes you through the BR 600s functions in a very clear and consecutive manner. Also, the guy hosting this training is a very knowledgeable guy. Not only does he get into the specifics of the BR 600, but also gives you tips for recording techniques in general. x x. Without this video I couldn't have learned to use the BR 600 The Boss BR 600 is a neat (but far from perfect) machine, but if you are a newbie to recording, studio work, etc. Please try again.Create a free account Representative 21.9 APR (variable). Mr. C. W. Winter 5.0 out of 5 stars Basically, there is no comparison - the Boss is exponentially better. I am not the sort of person who wants to spend ages reading manuals or who revells in twiddling knobs - I like to get on with the job of writing songs with as little fuss as possible, concentrating on being musically creative. Having said that, it's obvious that a bit of reading the manual is going to be required with kit like this, even if you have used a multi-track recorder before. Overall, I have found that I was able to get to grips with it quite quickly and get on with some recording. The manual is comprehensive and clear, with step by step procedures. It also has a Quick Start section which gets you going and doing some recording in one session. In fact, I would say that getting good results is more a matter of experimentation than reading the manual, as after a few weeks of using the BR600 in earnest I am now achieving much higher quality recordings and mixes than at first. I would go so far as to say that I am now achieving results that I would find difficult to distinguish from studio quality recordings of the past (albeit that they are simple songs that are recorded on 5 tracks or so). And that's without using any additional equipment, except a good guitar. Everything you need apart from the musical instruments is included - it's a fantastic package and everything works well enough to achieve high quality results. True - it's a bit fiddly programming drum arrangements but the sounds are definitely good enough. Obviously it won't compete with best of breed specialist kit in all the areas it covers and you will come up against limitations sooner or later - I have. But quite honestly, for less than ?200 (I notice it's now gone up to ?250 but I only paid ?180) it easily gives you enough quality in all areas to amaze your friends and make brilliant demos. If you need to record a hit record, you probably need a studio and an engineer but you could write the songs on the BR600 first. Do yourself a favour and purchase a 1gb SanDisk flash card for ?9.99 (Boss have been a bit tight with their standard flashcard). I ran out of space on my 2nd recording and it caused the song to become corrupted. No, now seriously. It's a good thing. Don't expect professional recording but goes quite ok for domestic use. However the BR600 is an amazing machine for the price and is the equivalent to what would have cost thousands just a few years back. This little box does everything a dedicated room full of gear would have done a decade ago. Not only that but using virtual tracks you can build, by careful bouncing, 8 tracks with ease, and if you go the whole hog, this machine is capable of 64 tracks of overdubbed material, although some of those will be stereo paired rather than independent mono tracks. Nevertheless this is an incredibly powerful tool if used with a thorough understanding of how it works. There are many forums on the 'net where you can get all sorts of tips which you feel are not adequately explained by the very large manual (DO read it.it will reward you in the end!). The only gripe is the limit of 1 gig compact flash for memory and the somewhat flakey and cumbersome export utility (you can export songs or pieces to your laptop or desktop computer). But for quality and ease of use, despite the digital access features by menu rather than physical knobs (what do you expect at this size and price?) this little gem is awesome, and in fact the menus are logically laid out and only take a few hours to become familiar with them. Not only are the internal effects top notch, but the internal stereo condensor mics are fantastic quality and give very good live recordings. This is absolutely ideal for recording anything from a string quartet to a live band. Just be careful to set the levels to just below peak to get maximum signal to noise ratio. For arranging and composing rock, pop or jazz this machine is all you need to make recordings almost indistinguishable from studio recordings costing a hundred times the price. If used with care the BR600 will produce top quality tracks. The sound is extremely clean. The addition of an internal drum machine with auto arrange, patterns or manual input is the icing on the cake, plus the insert and loop effects with which you can emulate a large range of accoustic and electric guitars, basses and other effects just using one guitar. Although I generally use a dedicated computer and software to compose and arrange complex pieces, the BR600 is a very easy-to-use notebook for instant recordings and is invaluable as a field or live recorder or for hassle free recording. Before purchasing I checked out the alternatives, and none of them came close at this price, all of them lacking effects, or drums, or the excellent internal stereo mics or having none of these extras.I think if you want to improve the sound further you really need to invest in a half decent condenser mic (if you intend on recording vocals),and maybe a valve pre amp to enrich the sound and add some warmth. If you just want to put down ideas and arent worried about sound quality then you dont need to bother with the above, the unit does come with onboard mics. The majority of guitar sounds in my opinion are over the top, ok if you like american 80,s rock. But the uk guitar patch works well for me. The biggest draw back is definately the drum arranger, far too time consuming and the manual just sends you into a mad panic trying to figure out how to use it, but once you get to grips with it, it does work fine. I think the drum sounds are a bit harsh and flat, but found that by adding a little reverb you can get a fairly good sound. You can download your own drum samples if you dont like the boss drums. Overall it has alot going for it, but i still think Roland have a seriously long way to go to improve the ease of use of the unit, especially the drum arranger and drum sounds. Worth buying, but be patient, it does take a little time to find how to get the best from it. Used: Very GoodSerial No:xxx8641 Please refer to all photos for reference of condition. Michael 1.0 out of 5 stars So complicated, could hardly do ANYTHING with it. (Did not come with users guide or an AC adapter). Not worth the money, not to mention, one of the channels didn't even work and another was all static when using the volume controls. The box is fairly small and turns out some really nice sounding production--professional quality to my admittedly hobbiest ears. The upside is that the system is fairly easy to use--it gets easier with practice--and there are no recording artifacts like white noise, tape noise, etc. Onboard effects for guitar and bass guitar are great. There are a few downsides, however. The biggest is that this is a complex system that takes a lot of time to master. You can do simple songs within a couple of hours of opening the box, but there are so many features that the average Joe will never learn them all. I don't think I've used more than 10 of the system's capability yet. The other downside are the drum tracks.
